The M.D. of Wainwright was saddened to learn of the passing of Edith Thoreson. Edith was a long-serving employee who dedicated many years of service to the organization. As Municipal Administrator, she worked closely with Council and played an important role in helping guide the M.D. of Wainwright through her years of service. Council and staff extend their sincere condolences to Edith's family and friends during this difficult time.
ATB Community Foundation has generously opened up a program to support the Wainwright Fire and Rescue Society. Donations made through December 31, 2026, will be matched up to a total of $15,000—helping make an even greater impact in our community. The M.D. of Wainwright Shelterbelt Establishment Program is officially open for applications!This program operates under a 50/50 cost share model on a first-come, first-served basis and is available to M.D. of Wainwright ratepayers to utilize for up to 1,000 seedlings per year per applicant.
